What Kind of Church is This?

First Christian Church began in 1914 during a revival meeting. Over the past 100+ years FCC has sought to simply be Christians. We have people from many different backgrounds and traditions. We are united in that Jesus is the Christ and the Bible is our sole standard for doctrine. We seek to have unity in these essentials, and liberty in non-essentials. We understand that we are saved by the grace of Christ and seek to be conformed into the image of Christ. We are an imperfect people that serves a perfect God.

What to Expect

If you've been following God your entire life, you're welcome here. If you're new to faith, you're welcome here. If you're not really sure you believe in God at all, you're welcome here. No matter where you are on the journey of faith, we want to walk alongside you as you go. Our hope is that as you join us on the journey, you'll discover a God who is active, alive, and at work in your life.

On Sunday mornings, some will be dressed very casually, others may be a little more dressed up. We are not concerned about your clothing, we are concerned about your soul. We have a fully staffed nursery and early childhood department downstairs for birth through Kindergarten. We have children's church for 1st to 5th grade that will leave before the sermon for a lesson that is age appropriate and interactive.

The worship is celebratory and Christ centered. Our worship team consists of four vocalists and a full band. We celebrate the Lord's Supper each week, all believers are encouraged to partake as we remember what Jesus has done for us. The sermon will be Biblically based, conversational, and applicable to your everyday life.

We hope to see you Sunday at 10:30 for worship.

What We Believe

  • We believe in one God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. * Matthew 3:16, 17 * John 14: 9, 10 *
  • We believe God is the creator of man and of all things. * Genesis  1:1 * Acts 17:24-28 *
  • We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, and His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal and bodily return to judge the living and the dead. * John 3:16 * Matthew 1:18 * John 20:24-31 *
  •  We believe the Holy Spirit dwells within every Christian. * John 16:5-15 *
  •  We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority for all matters of faith. * Romans 15:4 * Hebrews 4:13 * 2 Timothy 3:16 *
  • We believe that man, created by God, willfully sinned and, as a result, is lost and without hope apart from Jesus Christ. * Acts 4:12 * Romans 3:23 * 1 John 1:7 *
  • We believe that salvation (the forgiveness of sins) comes by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ (his death on the cross) * Matthew 26:28 * Romans 5:8-11 * Ephesians 2:8, 9 *
  •  We believe the Bible teaches that the pattern to follow to receive Jesus as Savior is to believe in Christ as God’s Son and Savior of the world, to repent of personal sin, to confess Christ as Lord, and to be immersed in baptism. * Luke 24:45-47 * Acts 2:38 * Romans 6:1-7 * 2 Peter 3:9 We believe that the church is the body and the bride of Christ, founded on the day of Pentecost, consisting of all Christians everywhere. * Matthew 16:13-18 * Acts 2:14-47 *
  •  We believe that death seals the eternal destiny of each person. The saved will inherit eternal life; the unsaved, eternal separation from God.  * Romans 8:10, 11 * Daniel 12:2 * John 6:47 *

Driving Principles

Every organization must know who they are, what their purpose is, and what they seek to accomplish to be successful. At FCC we understand that we are a people called together to glorify God, encourage one another, serve our community, and reach the lost.  Three phrases that help to guide who we are at FCC are: Connect to Christ, Connect to One Another, and Experience Grace.

  • Connect to Christ

We seek to help you to connect with Christ. We do this through our teaching, preaching, worship, and imperfect example. Our spiritual lives are a journey, we must continually seek to be more like Christ and to connect with the power of the Holy Spirit.

  • Connect to One Another

In the beginning God knew it was not good for man to be alone. When Jesus came to earth, He surrounded himself with a community of faith. We are wise to follow in the example of Christ and find those that can help us to grow and thrive.

  • Experience Grace

There is nothing we can do to earn salvation, none of us deserve to go to heaven. However, God shows His grace to us in that Jesus provided the way for our salvation (John 3:16). We are called to show this same attitude of grace in our lives. We seek to be a church that demonstrates grace. Jesus ate with sinners, and so do we.
